Miss Joy

Miss Joy has been "Grandma" to hundreds of children at Come Little Children since February 1994. Previously she was a secretary at Henry Ford Hospital and then stayed home to watch 3 neighborhood children for 6 years until they grew up and no longer needed her. Love is her motto. She says, "God gave me the grace to love children, which I feel is special".

Miss Linda
Preschool Teacher

I have "played" at Come Little Children since February 1994. I attended Central Michigan and Western Michigan Universities earning a Child Development Major. I have kept up my education by attending several conferences for child care providers over the years. I worked several years in a Pontiac area child care facility and 12 years in home daycare for neighborhood children. I belonged to a neighborhood babysitting co-op where I had earned an additional 200 hours by the time my children were grown. I taught Sunday School for 13 years at my church. I was also involved in the puppet ministry, liturgical dance, hand bell choir, and provided care for the church's baby population during evening activities. HUMOR is important to me! I adore 2 1/2 - 4 year old kids! I am obsessed with reading and love to buy children's books to collect and share. The Canton Library is my favorite place to hang out. Women's health and healthy living are popular topics as well as books on how to stimulate learning in children. I seek out books that will teach me something. I delight in learning about other countries and their cultures -music, foods, places, etc... Music of all kinds makes my spirit soar! I value the earth and love to reduce, reuse and recycle. Give me your weird stuff, and we'll make it into something fun. Favorite recycled item: the gazebo box that we fashioned into an Italian Gondola and the linoleum tubes that became a Hawaiian palm tree and a maypole for a Swedish festival!
